The Sultan is/was the leader or king in many Islamic and Arabic civilizations. In fact there was a Sultan in the times when the Aladdin stories were told. Sultans like Saladin are often mentioned in western history as he battled Crusaders in the middle East in the 10th century and on.

A Sultan would rule over his land or country which was termed a Sultanate. Although the costume featured here is harking back in time, there are many present day sultans that rule over their land and people. Examples of these modern day rulers are the Sultan of Brunei and the Sultan of Oman. This costume is top quality and will make a big impression at any party, be it for Halloween or just an everyday dress up event. It includes a dark blue jacket that ends at the hips and has an Islamic look to it. This is especially the case with the gold trim and brocade at the front of the jacket.
