Royal Sultan Or Is He A Wise Man ?

The Royal Sultan Costume is another elegant (dare I say regal) looking costume that harkens back to the times depicted in the 1001 Arabian nights or the Islamic Golden Age. This is often described as the peak of the ancient cultures based around the Arabian Peninsula, what we now call Iran and Iraq and even spreading as far as the Indian Sub continent.

This was a time of great commercial, scientific, artistic and creative expansion. Traders no doubt traveled to the far east to trade and bring back exotic spices and other products. Many developments in mathematics, architecture and other scientific endeavors were founded in this time period.

Indeed, famous buildings like the Al Hambra in Southern Spain probably owe their designs to the skills learned in this historical period. Many of the key architectural foundations that you see in many Mosques today where based on the architectural elements that evolved in this time.

And of course, literature flourished. The 1001 nights is described as folk tales of the period and give an insight into how people lived, what they lived for and some of the goals and aspiration of the culture as a whole.

Aladdin is just one of the tales. You will also find Ali Babar and the forty thieves and various tales of Sindbad the sailor. Again, they give you a feel for life in this time and as many are fantasies they also give an insight into the thoughts of the writers and people of the time.

Royal Sultan Costume

At the head of this great cultural time was the Sultan. And with this Royal Sultan, you can play the role.  The costume consists of  a black and red tunic with gold accents. This is a floor length tunic with beautiful colors and an elegant pattern. There is also a similarly patterned gold and black robe. There is also black pajama style pants and an ornate black and gold belt for the midriff.

The look is completed by the head piece that is black and red in color with a black drape that stops at the neck.

The costume is ideal if you want to be the Sultan and others have gone as Princess Jasmine, or even as the eponymous hero Aladdin in an Aladdin costume for Halloween or some other fancy dress party. Another use is as one of the Wise men from the nativity story. Many people act in nativity plays and this costume is good enough to really look the part in an play on this theme.
