The film was billed as the Pirates of the Caribbean in the desert. In other words it was an action adventure picture that was aimed at a broad range of audiences but primarily children and teenagers. This Hassansin warrior costume is a fairly accurate representation of the outfits worn in the actual film and is an officially licensed Disney product.
Here’s a bit of background on the character and the costume you get. As the name suggests, the Hassansins are a shadowy group (maybe even a tribe) that are skilled in fighting and doing the dirty work for the highest bidder. They used to be the go to guys by the Persian royal family when they needed someone assassinated. They were skilled assassins and very successful but at the time of the story, they are not in with the Royal family anymore.
In the film they are hired out by the arch-villain Nizam to track down Dastan and Tamina. Dastan is a threat to Nizam in becoming supreme ruler of Persia. Also Nizam believes that Dastan or Tamina have the Dagger of Time that allows you to go back in time. Who wouldn’t want something that could allow you to go back in time, however Nizam has a plan to use it to change history so that he can assume power in the Persian empire.
The Hassansins are a constant threat to Dastan throughout the film and there are many confrontations with them. Many of Dastan’s friends are killed in these series of confrontations as are many Hassansin warriors. The final confrontation between Dastan and the Hassansin leader takes place in the penultimate scene where Dastan triumphs and finally gets his hands on the real baddy, Nizam.
The Hassansin Prince Of Persia Costume consists of a brown colored tunic with gray rough fabric faux chainmail sleeves. There is also an attached cape to keep out the sand. Along with this, you get a turban with attached veil which will also help in a sandstorm. The finishing touches to the costume are the shin guards and a Persian style design belt to make you look like you are just out of the movie.
This is quite an original costume in the same vein as an Aladdin costume. It is sure to go down well for Halloween or other dress up parties. It has that mysterious air about it that is sure to get plenty of comments at the party. Add a Persian type sword or Scimitar for that swashbuckling look.
